ARE YOU ELIGIBLE TO TRY SHOOTING ?
Try shooting is a great way to get started in the sport but there are some eligibility requirements that all persons must meet before they can participate. These requirements are mandated through firearms legislation and regulation and are monitored by the NSW Police Fire Arms Registry.
To participate in Try Shooting activities anywhere within NSW you must be over 12 years of age and be able to answer NO to ALL of the questions below.
Within the last 10 years been the subject of a Family Law or Domestic Violence Order or an Apprehended Violence Order (other than an order that was revoked)?
Been refused or prohibited from holding a firearms licence or permit or had a firearms licence or permit suspended, cancelled or revoked?
Currently, suffering from any mental illness or other disorder that may prevent you from using a firearm safely?
Within the last 10 years been convicted of an offence involving firearms, weapons, prohibited drugs, robbery, violence, terrorism or an offence of a sexual nature?
Been the subject of a Firearms Prohibition Order?
Ever attempted suicide or self-harm?
Currently subject to a Good Behaviour Bond?
Currently subject to an Interim Apprehended Violence Order?
In the past 12 months been treated or referred for treatment for alcoholism, drug dependence or a mental illness within the meaning of the Mental Health Act 2007 or as a mentally disordered person within the meaning of that Act?
If you meet the eligibility criteria then why not contact us for a booking.
You will start the day by completing the NSW Police Declaration – Person shooting on an Approved Range or undertaking a Firearms Safety Training Course form. This is more commonly known as the P650 form. After this you will watch a short introductory video on shooting and the safety requirements before completing this written Safety Exam and Assessment.
You will be required to show Photo Identification/Drivers Licence on the day, or original Birth Certificate for minors. Please note that Guardians will also be required to show Photo ID even if they are not participating in any Try Shooting activities.
